Stop-work notice to green belt building with 718 flats in Noida

The Noida Authority on September 24 served a notice to developer Horizon Concept Group for building a 14-storey housing project on a green belt in Sector 86, asking it to immediately stop construction work.

It was reported on September 23 that the project was sealed by the Noida Authority. But on September 24, the Authority’s additional CEO V K Panwar said the building has not yet been sealed and the developer had only been given a warning. “The developer will have to stop construction work with immediate effect or we will have to seal the building on September 19 and then the building will be demolished 15 days from the date of issuing notice,” Panwar said.

The developer, on the other hand, said he has not flouted any rules. “Our project, which will have 718 flats, has not been sealed and the construction is in full swing. Horizon Concept group had started construction after obtaining all necessary approvals from zila panchayats,” said a company spokesperson.

Citing a stay order by a civil court, which the developer had produced earlier, Panwar said, it only mentioned that the land was in the developer’s possession and did not say he could change the land-use and construct on it.
